Be careful. Ignoring this man's character flaws could be our undoing as a country. Putting him in the White House would be like letting a sex offender live in your spare bedroom because he promises to clean your gutters.
Trump must be seen in his entirety. The man's character looms larger than his stated policy. Things to consider -
- the demagoguery
- the xenophobia
- the misogyny
- the accusations of sexual assault
- the boasting about sexual assault
- the demonization of immigrants
- the demonization of Muslims
- the petty feuds
- the "wars of words" on Twitter
- the threat to prosecute a political rival
- the years-long campaign to delegitimize the first African American president
- the incitement of violence against protesters at campaign rallies
- the frequent bankruptcies
- the failed development projects
- the long list of failed business ventures
- the bilking of investors
- the swindling of contractors
- the "university" that was nothing more than an outright scam
- the criticism of women for their appearance
- the womanizing, both within and outside of marriage
- the refusal to pay workers
- the preference for cheap immigrant labor over hiring American employees
- the well-documented cases of refusal to serve African-American customers
- the disparaging of the US military (the most powerful in the world) along with its leadership
Can we really ignore this - ALL of this - and assume that this man can and will function as a responsible leader for our country?
