A Pleasant Season

They’re the prettiest months

May and June

The world springs alive

With flowers in bloom

Warm, pleasant days

And comfortable nights

Are delights

After the long winter

But not this year

Not this May

Can you even remember

Two good days

In a row?

No

It jumps from the chill

Of uncommon cold

To sweltering heat

And humidity

And every day

There’s at least

A chance of rain

Often heavy

I have to say

That I’m not a fan

Of climate change

I want to go back

To the way it was

When spring

Was a pleasant season
