Leap Day
You have a wonderful way
Of making a special month
More special
Twenty-nine days!
How delightfully unique!
Only once in four years
Can we enjoy this treat
We actually skip it
As the century begins
Most of the time
It sort of depends
On astronomical things
That I’ve not time to explain
And I don’t think you’d want
To go through the pain
Just enjoy the short month
That gets a bit longer
Like a muscle we’ve worked
That grows bigger and stronger
And while February
Is still shorter than the rest
Because it leaps longer
Then surely
It must be the best
