When someone stops keeping touch, like for instance if they stop sending you Christmas and birthday messages, maybe they have become too busy to keep up with such things, maybe they no longer care, or maybe they feel that you have done something to annoy them.
In any case, how to respond presents a dilemma. Should you ask them directly if something is wrong and whether there’s something that you can do to get back in their good graces? Should you, in the interest of being a good friend and the bigger person, continue to send them greetings as if nothing has changed? Or should you respond in kind, stop making any effort to keep in touch, and leave it to fate as to whether circumstances will bring you back together one day?
